HAPPY THANKSGIVING

“Thanksgiving, when the Indians said, “Well, this has been fun, but we know you have a long voyage back to England”. –Jay Leno

Just visit a third world country to realize just how blessed we are. I agree, one day is not enough. How about everyday? Being grateful and appreciative that is, not eating our artieries closed.

We smell the aroma of love, we taste the sweetness of giving, we want for nothing and we are grateful for all. Now if we could just get into those darn jeans.

To work off the average calories consumed on Thanksgiving, we will need to walk 28.35 miles, 45.72 kilometers, or 56700 steps, assuming you cover one mile in 2,000 steps.

Oh, what the hay. Enjoy folks , we have till Christmas to get in those 28 miles. Have a wonderful day.

  3. We are out the door to my allergy DR for H1N1 shot for me; husband will have to find his own as clinic only gives to its patients.

Then we go to VA at Ft Roots to hearing clinic for him.

Interesting trivia fact. We are staying at Markham and Shackleford. The desk clerk said Ft. Roots which is on a Mountain in No Little Rock is 5 degrees colder. It was actually a very early army fort with some historic buildings.

maybe I'll take some photos and start on the 28 miles early. :O)

We are eating Thanksgiving Dinner according to Husband at Luby's Cafeteria, his favorite. No doubt we will eat there before Thursday too. Now if the desserts were hidden I do well..................

In the mode of the early pilgrims, I am most thankful I am still alive and did not starve to death or die of some unknown malady. Despite the economic oppression, no one in this country can conceive of starvation known in other parts of the world.

    Happy Thanksgiving!!!

  4. Oops forgot, I will have to do treadmill at 2mph for 28 days as I only do 30 minutes. My other exercise should count for something but not sure how much.

  5. Yes, we should be thankful every day in this country. We only hear the voices of the complainers. Rise up thankful voices and speak.

    I've started a new blog "A Slower Pace" http://hillinlinda.blogspot.com/

  8. Wanda,
You are going to get dizzy. Way to go. It only comes once a year so enjoy.

    Nitwit,
I have really enjoyed your on going thankfullness posts.
Looking forward to the pics of Ft. Roots, a new to me place.
Enjoy your meal and be glad there is no clean up.
At the rate you have scheduled and the treadmill, you should be done in time for Christmas.

    Sunny,
I thought it cute also and I am sure there are Indians who felt the same way.

    Brighid,
Back at ya lady. Enjoy each and every calorie.

    robin
Ah, and you won't even have to walk 28 miles to work it off. Wish I had your eating habits. Best to you and Roger.

    Linda

  14. Happy Thanksgiving to you. Hope you have some family or friends to spend it with. My turkey id done all ready. It was a small one and I cheated and used one of those roasting bag, but it looks so nice and brown and delicious, I also bought two extra thighs, it seems anymore everyone loves the dark meat. Those darn thighs cost almost as much as the turkey I got on sale.

  16. Patty,
Hadn't thought about that. Buying a turkey piece meal would be really expensive. Nice of you to get the parts most people want.
Our family is big on white meat.
Hope you had a wonderful day.

    Jewels,
Just think, you only have 28 miles to do before the Christmas feast. Nice start.Sounds like you enjoyed your "free"day.

  17. No, we don't celebrate it here.. I'm just aware of it & generally like all festivities ;-) reason for celebration ..always good!

  18. Happy Thanksgiving Patti! I know this will be late, but I'm sure you won't mind stretching giving thanks for a few more days! All that food sounds just the thing to get the body in condition for the winter months. I wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to walk those 28.35 miles... just pretend that you are a bear preparing to hibernate for winter!
Best Wishes to you, Peter, Laura, and Ginger

  19. Happy Thanksgiving Patti. We were in your nice town for a few days for the festival...heard you were sick, so didn't bother you. We just love your town so much that we bought a car while we were there. Enjoyed having the family in to share....had a nice time. Take care and good health.

  21. lostworld,
Cornish game hen which is an iddy biddy turkey if you put your imagination to work. Even so, I over ate. No will power.

    Peter,
Thank you for the wishes and also the excuse to over eat. Winter is coming and we all tend to fatten up for that event. Now if I could just sleep for 3 months. Ah maybe not,I would miss too much.

    Arkie 38
Awww, I am so sorry I missed you all. Rats.
How nice of you to boost our ecconomy by not only staying here but buying a car here also. Hope you got a good deal.
See you next time I hope. My best to you both and your family for a great holidays.

    Reader Wil,
Aw, I missed it. I am always glad to see at least one turkey make it through the holidays with all its feathers intact. That is standard tradition here from the president.

  23. It would be a different world if the pilgrims had turned around and went back. I wonder how much different the world would be?

  24. Patty,
Me too, me too. Mighty and I took a nice walk this AM. Food hangover is not fun.

    Abe,
You know when I posted that, I thought a lot about it but couldn't even imagine how it would have turned out. I do know Europe would really be crowded.

  26. Love this post, Patti! Hope you had a lovely day and have already begun your 28 mile trek. I tried to err on the side of "far less than usual" in my consumption of food at the family feast, so I shall have to walk only 20 miles! Nanny, nanny, boo, boo!

  27. Pat,
Aren't you smart. I am going to need the full 28 miles.

  28. I guess third world countries do have a problem with us and how we seem to have everything. If I was sitting in a brothel in some dingy corner of the world and flipped on the news and saw this humongous meal spread on a table, I would wonder what happened to God. Life doesn't seem and it isn't fair to be sure.

  29. Couldn't agree more Abe. We truly are a blessed people.
