BYE

Just to let you know I won't be posting for a while. How long I hang up my keyboard, I haven't the foggiest. The heat has not only wilted my plants but it seems to have dried up  my creative juices also. I've got nothing and sadly, that doesn't seem to bother me much !!!  I no longer feel the pressure to produce a post. I guess I only had 518 posts in me.

Not sure what I will do in place of  blogging but hopefully it won't involve broadening my behind in front of a computer.  I just need to cut the cord for a while.

I have so enjoyed this adventure, especially meeting everyone of you. You are interesting, fun, informative, supportive and amazing. It has been such a pleasure getting to know you, your families, traveling with you, learning about different areas of this wonderful country, and visiting far off countries I would never have gotten to experience otherwise, all the while sharing your joys, creations,  light bulb moments, triumphs, and pains.

I will still stop by your sites as time permits.  Pretty sure I can't go cold turkey with my visiting nor do I want to. Though I may only lurk and not comment, I will still need to stop by your sites from time to time to assure myself you are doing fine. I care about you all.

It has been a marvelous ride.  If I find I can't kick the habit, I will be back. Otherwise, take care dear ones and keep living your lives to the fullest. I plan to.

You are the best.

  1. Dear Patti,
I don't want to jinx your break from blogging, but from what I have seen around the Blogosphere, nothing helps the flow of creative juices faster than ... taking a break. ;-)
I wish you the very best, a breeze of cool air every now and then, before summer's unrelenting finally takes a break and wanders into Indian Summer territory.
Warm greetings and many ways to enjoy yourself,
    merisi

  2. Oh Patti.. "Please don't go. We'll eat you up we ove you so." We will miss you. You were one of the first, if not the first to comment when I started my blog. I understand your need to move on a bit, but perhaps you could give us an update every three months or so? We won't let you go that easily.

Best wishes for all your new endevors ...... Keep on dancing round the sun!.........love.......*s*

  4. While I understand that blogging can become a burden if you feel you "have" to post I for one am sorry to see you go. You have made me laugh, you have made me cry, you have made me think. I have enjoyed getting to know you and will miss your posts. Thank you for sharing and caring. See you again somewhere down the road....

  5. I think we all need a break for a while, I've been feeling the same way for ages too, but just know I'd regret it if I didn't blog at all. It is a commitment and the bigger the blog the more or a commitment it becomes writing and reading other blogs. I understand that you want to fill your life with other things, but just to say I'll miss you. I hope you'll have your break and then come back refreshed again. Take care.

  7. Things change, time moves on. But I do hope you will be back at some point, only because I will be wondering how you are doing and what you've decided to take up!

  8. I will miss you and sorry we live so close and never met. If in my area, I still have a conventional land line phone. My cell is on only when traveling.

Would love to meet you. Sent you an e-mail reply to your previous blog with additional info.

I do not, and for a long time, never let myself feel pressured to write. It is not good for my health problems and then it is not fun. Nor did I ever try to collect a huge following.

    Writing is cathartic for me.

I notice the followers that I have--about half appear to be semi-dormant.

I should read more, but since I now have a Kindle I want more time to read, and learn its features which include the Internet. I bought another one, the Touch, not the FIRE. It is easier for me to handle.

I know you love to read, so fill up you Kindle and read.

However, you writing is so good, You might consider archiving or putting them together as a book for others. I really mean that. I am not that good, and my typos are terrible, my proofreading skills, nil, and mostly the subjects are drivel.

  9. I hope this is just a break for a short while. Your blogs are so meaningful and from the heart. If you don't continue to blog, please continue to stop by and just say hello. I will miss you and your wonderful blog. (((hugs)))

  11. I understand this completely. Writing blog stories should not feel like a chore. I know many people who write business blogs that taking breaks for it.

One more quick note to all of your many followers. I don't comment often on blog posts, but want everyone to know I've visited many of y'all. I appreciate the list Patti has on the left side of her blog. Otherwise, I would have never found you.

  12. These computers can be little time sucking machines. I fully respect your decision to take a break. I take the route of blathering on even when I have nothing to say, but I do understand your need to move on. I do hope it is only for a while, though, a vacation rather than a whole new life. You will be greatly missed.

  13. Oh Patti, I fully understand how you feel, but I do hope that you will come back after a nice break. And if that is not to be, at least let us know how you are from time to time. You've become an important part of our blogging lives and you will be missed! I wish you the very, very best and hope you will be enjoying life and doing what makes you happy. Take care!!

  14. For a long time I felt like I had to blog, but finally learned I did not have to. Now days I blog if I want to and don't if don't want to. I totally understand your feelings sweet Patti. Blogging should be fun and not something that makes us feel pressured to write something.I will miss you and will enjoy hearing from you if and when you do come back. Hugs

  15. I have loved your presence in the blogging world and will miss you if you don't return. I do understand the need to go quiet, especially when the summer has been such a HOT HOT HOT one. I hope you will start writing again when the temps have cooled down, or Mighty does something funny, or you remember one of your outstanding stories. I'm keeping you bookmarked, my friend.

  16. You will be greatly missed for many reasons. That being said, I fully understand what you are saying and doing. Blogging is wonderful, but it also requires a lot of time. Sometimes, a person just knows when it is time to move on to another activity.

Truly, Patti, you are a treasure. I have loved reading everything you have to post. You will be in my thoughts. I hope you pop in once in a while. As you may have noticed, I also have lost a lot of my steam this summer, but please check in when you see a post from me now and again.

  19. Oh no! I will miss your making my day. Can you post a line occasionally and tell us how you are doing. Even "I'm okay" would help. But then even that sounds like pressure to me when you want a change. God Bless with joyous moments!

  27. What began as a line of words, developed into a warm, funny, serious, compassionate personality, that we have come to know and appreciate. It is a miracle of this strange medium of the internet that you have been transported around the world into so many homes and lives. It would be marvellous if your writing could be collected up and published in book form, but we have been so lucky to be able to share in it as it has tumbled from your computer keyboard.

Enjoy some peace and a break from things, I'll be reading and re-reading your previous posts, and.... who knows, when the cool of autumn comes, and the nights are long, we may hear from you again!

Thank you for your wonderful blog and your friendship.

Lots of love from us down in New Zealand, Peter, Laura, Nigella Stopit, and Ginger xxxx

  30. Patti, I will miss you. Your funny posts, your perspective in life. I also greatly admire you for being true to yourself, to your guts, to your needs. Fly away Patti.

  32. This makes me sad, Patti. You of all people should not quit. Your stories are too good, and while you think you have told them all, I submit you will have more to tell in the future. I'll miss you.

  33. Take care, I hope you choose to return. If not, please keep visiting us!

  34. Wow, thank you all so very much for the sweet and kind comments that truly touched me. I have never been wrong in saying that you are the best.
I awoke this morning with conflicting emotions. First thinking there was something I should be doing and sad that this phase was most likely over but then there was a sense of relief that the whole day was available. It kind of feels like that first day of vacation when I was working.
Yes I will miss this but I think there is something different out there for me and time's a wasting. I have loved our time together and wish only health and happiness for you and yours.
    Love ya. Patti

  36. Dear Arkansas Patti, of course, I'm disappointed to learn that I won't be able to come to your blog and find that special sense you have of the ridiculous in life and the humor you are able to find in your own foibles. I'll miss that.

But I'll know that you are taking care of yourself by ceasing to blog--at least for the foreseeable future. It's so important to listen to what our mind and heart and body are telling us about our needs and heart wishes. I so honor and respect you for that. Please continue to be gracious to yourself. Peace now and always.

  37. Oh, no! I will miss your stories so much, Patti. You are the best writer. I hope that you enjoy your time off. You are the second blogging friend this year to say goodbye ... I already know that there will be a big hole in blogland with you gone. Hope that you will still visit once in awhile. Hugs!

  44. Hi Patti, I didn't know about this post until I received your email today... I'm sorry to hear this --but I understand. There are times that I want to give it up not because of not having something to say but because I cannot find time to visit everyone and leave comments. I feel guilty when I don't visit my friends... BUT--I still love blogging so I'll continue it as long as I can......

We really did enjoy our visit to Arkansas --despite Mother Nature!!!!!

    Hugs,

  45. I so understand about needing some time away from the daily grind of producing something interesting, funny, or mind altering everym day. I have just come back from a long time away and it is good. I sure want to make sure I have your email address before you totally sign off. I was heartbroken when I saw the "Bye" all alone there. Just stay in touch some, k. Hopefully it will be Halloween soon and with it some cool air.

Did ya see me when we came through Arkansas a couple three weeks ago? It was pretty fast but I waved.

I'm edging toward 70 and from what you have shown me it isn't all that bad, except for "shingles"! ooohh that was bad.

Take care and drop by soon. I may not get back quickly, but will eventually.

  47. Oh this past week I was missing you and then today I realized I had to get over here for a fix and now, so sad, but I understand, I do hope you post occasionally, you are a breath of fresh air for so many reasons. I wish you some rain and so cool weather, this has been the hottest summer down here and we've had little rain, every day they promise some and it passes us by. My vegetables have withered but thankfully the herbs are hanging on.

  48. Please don't go away for good, your writing is just to interesting and I always look forward to reading your posts. I hope you will enjoy yourself though, away from all of us, doing your thing, whatever it may be.

  54. That is pretty much what I have done. I've divorced myself from blogging simply because I am out of words. Now and then if something worthwhile pops into my head, I'll post something.

I hope it works that way for you too.
