COMPUTER IS POSSESSED

Looks like my computer needs an exorcism. It has become willful, disobedient and I can no longer cope. It's erratic spells of tangent taking, looping and persistent "not responding" messages have broken me. I really am tired of hitting Alt, Ctrl and Del.

The demented darling is going to the cyber hospital today and with luck my local computer genius can restore her. Hopefully there won't be a need to call in the pipers.

Since I was also having problem with a compression of the ulnar nerve ( numbness in little fingers) from bad computer posture, perhaps the enforced rest will do me good also.

Previous spells of going cold turkey with out my computer were quite hard on me. I don't really do well at all abstaining and will really miss the cranky dear. Must admit I'm addicted. What will I do without Google?

Can always write with pen and paper though my cursive has gone to the bad place and even I can't read it. One thing I won't be able to do is to keep up with you all and visit. I'll miss all of you but will catch up as soon as I can.

Have fun and be well. Bye for now.

Patti

  2. I will certainly miss you Patti.

Could part of the problem rest with Blogger, I had a spell of 'not responding' notices for several weeks, but only when visiting certain blogs, it cleared up on it's own!

    Will be watching for you!

  5. There are some very persistant virii circulating. Those of us who are "always on" with DSL or cable Wireless, etc. are more vulnerable.

Now I have two bloggers that have bit the dust to computer failure. But I bet you'll have a white glove clean house and Mighty will love the additional attention.

However, one of my favorite computer gurus that I also consult, believes those of us Windows users should "start at the beginning",unwelcome words to the owner who has spent hours customizing the cranky program.

But as a victim of carpal tunnel (2 surgeries) the rest will help that. Further, my carpal tunnel has returned, so I have learned the laptop on my lap with my short arms at 90 degree bend is better than an ill fitting desk and chair.

PS I hsve been getting that same message to IE web pages on two different laptops, plus one is running increadibly SLOW.

  9. Good luck with the computer, hope it's nothing serious. Perhaps you need carpal tunnel surgery. Or if nothing else wear the splint that makes you hold your hand a certain way. Had my right one done about six years ago, don't regret it at all. Left one doesn't bother me enough to want to have it done, although the doctor said it should be. Have a nice rest. Do a lot of reading. You can also go to the library and get on line.

  11. You always make me laugh - FYI - avoid blood sacrifices over the key board - I have heard that entraps the demons.

I was having a lot of similar problems when using IE ... but I downloaded Firefox ( a freebie )
and it runs smoother with no freezing ( so far ! )

  17. This week I couldn't get internet and as I have wireless connection I really couldn't see if it was my computer, the modem, the router or the cable between the router and the modem. I took it to the local computershop where they discovered it was the router, which had to be reset. I asked the shopkeeper what I owed him. He said:"Nothing!" Now isn't that nice? Afterwards the computer worked perfectly well.
