BLOGGER PROBLEMS
This may be unique to my computer but I am hoping it is not and someone else also had the problem but has solved it.
When I hit publish on a post, it does not appear on the blog reading list as a current post. It shows the new post as being a week old. I use to be able to go back and hit update to get it to have a correct posting date. That however no longer works.
Last week, nothing I tried worked but time. If I waited several hours, it would eventually show up with the proper date.
If you have had this problem and have been able to solve it, I'd be grateful for some info. Wonder how long it will take this one to show on our reading lists?

That is a baffling problem. I wish I had an answer.
ReplyDeleteRobin,
DeleteLucky you and I hope you never do.
that was supposed to be "need to."
DeleteOne thing I do notice about the reading list is that the link to other blogs show up fine. The difference that I notice is that your blog post doesn't seem to show up with its title, whereas the others do, and seem to have the right time stamp. Not sure what that means, but a noticeable difference. Mmmmm?
ReplyDeleteHum, I wasn't aware of that. Thanks, I'll check it out.
DeleteHi Patti. I read your post early this morning (on Butter), about 7:10 AM EST. But when I went back 2 hours later to post a comment, I got the message that the post was not available.
ReplyDeleteMust be so frustrating! It was a great post too! If/when it shows up, I'll certainly be back to add my 2 cents in the comment section :-)
Carole,
DeleteButter was scheduled and I will run it next Monday. Glad you liked it. Curious if it showed up on your reading list or did you just check in??
It was me just checking in.
DeleteCarole,
DeleteThank you. That helps me in solving the problem.
Carole,
DeleteOops, sorry but Butter won't make it till the 20th when I get back.
I battle computer gremlins every day. Had some trouble with malware...might run a scan just to be on the safe side.
ReplyDeleteGail,
DeleteI guess it is to keep us from becoming comfortable. I run a scan every week and just ran one. Nada.
Sorry... Wish I could help you --but I can't... I usually label and title mine and date my new posts before starting to write the post... Then as I type, I 'save' it along... When I finish, I always preview it.. After it is what I want, I publish it...
ReplyDeleteGood Luck..... AND a Happy Memorial Day to you. Let's never forget those men and women who served and gave so much for our FREEDOM.
Hugs,
Betsy
Betsy,
DeleteThat is what I do also and it use to work. Now there is a 4 to 6 hour delay. Grr.
I have no idea either, but this post has just shown up in my dashboard, it says 46 minutes ago!
ReplyDeleteJoey,
DeleteThanks for the input. I actually posted it 4 hours earlier.
That's a new one on me, but I have problems all the time with blogger. I hope it straightens out for you.
ReplyDeleteTerri,
DeleteI am hoping this is temporary. We will see.
I have no idea about how or why this would happen, but computer literacy and problem solving in general...not areas of strength for me.
ReplyDeleteOlga,
DeleteNot mine either which is why I am reaching out. Hopefully someone else knows how to correct the problem.
I don't know either. I use the Blog List in my sidebar to visit blogs and yours shows up as having been posted five hours ago. It is now I m PT here so that should be about correct. But I have noticed that my own posts don't show up on other people's blog lists for a day or so. Sorry I can't be of help.
ReplyDeleteInger,
DeleteI have noticed some other folk's posts showing up much later than the date they wrote it. Interesting.
Hi Patti, happy to report that we are receiving your blog "live and well" here in New Zealand! It is currently reporting "6 hours ago" as when it was posted, but I have no idea of where that fits with reality!
ReplyDeleteI did wonder if the problem you are having might be something to do with "cookies" that your Internet browser may have downloaded from Blogger/Google (these aren't necessarily harmful or dangerous, but are supposed to help!). Just like real cookies, these sometimes go stale!! Also a browser will "cache" information, and this can occasionally confuse it too. Don't know what browser you are using, but in the Firefox browser I use I can go to Preferences/Privacy/clear all current history, and when I do that it gives me the option to clear things such as cookies, cache, stored passwords and so on. In your case I would try clearing only the cookies and cache. This should clear out anything that has been stored on the browser that might confuse it as to dates and times.
I can do something similar with Chrome browsers, but I haven't used Internet Explorer for many years so don't know what options it has, but I suspect that it should offer to do this too!
I will have a little search on the Internet to see if I can find out anything more, but I think there is a good chance that clearing cache and cookies should help.
Good luck!
Peter,
DeleteThanks for the detailed help. Sadly, I do clear my history, cache and cookies every week. I try to keep it clean. Not sure what my problem is.
I don't think I've experienced this problem. Sometimes when I repost something it shows up as the old post unless I change the title slightly.
ReplyDeleteStephen,
DeleteI had the same problem and usually just changing a word of text then updating worked. That no longer works.
Have not noticed this... but will now keep watch.
ReplyDeleteRian,
DeleteHope you continue to be spared.
Sorry, I'm no help, but I see I'm not showing up on your blog list at all...
ReplyDeleteBrig,
DeleteI noticed that lately. You will be on my reading list but not on the blog list till a day later. Grr.
I have problems putting photos, etc. This has been going on for months, and I swear I'm doing it right. That doesn't mean I'm actually right, of course, but it's frustrating. Why can't Blogger just leave well enough alone. Every time they tweak it, it becomes more user UN-friendly.
ReplyDeleteBetty,
DeleteMaddening isn't it? Lets hope we both get straightened out---SOON.
I haven't had this problem... yet. I have found that some times things happen that's really screwy and then two days later, it gets fixed. It's really weird.
ReplyDeleteKay,
DeleteI too am hoping this is a temporary glitch. Fingers, eyes and toes are crossed
I'm just getting to your blog now at 11:00 PM, and it shows up as having been posted 14 hours ago. That must be about right. I have no idea of how to help.
ReplyDeleteLinda R,
DeleteI know, that is some delay. Maybe I will schedule my post to be published at midnight so it will show up in the morning.
You post shows up in my sidebar as having been posted 20 hours ago. I generally check my blog between six and seven am so it probably showed right away.
ReplyDeleteI do love the world of the internet, but boy it drives me crazy when it gets weird!
smartcat,
DeleteMaybe it shows up on the side bar before the read list. This really is maddening. Thanks for your info.
I guess I haven't had that particular problem but computers are all one huge problem for me.
ReplyDeleteBelva,
DeleteLucky you and I hope you never have this problem to deal with.
Your post was in my Reader this morning, a day late. I sometimes have the problem but as long as it eventually shows up, I can wait. Since we have no control, I read the comments with much interest. Just keep on blogging, if you don't mind. I really love your posts. :-)
ReplyDeleteDjan,
DeleteAw, thank you and back at ya.
I wondered why your Sunday posts started showing up on Monday. Since I only post once a week, perhaps I will schedule my posts to publish at midnight the night before. Guess we have to be patient huh?
My blog is very simple so I guess I don't have the same problems. My biggest problem is getting the type to look OK.
ReplyDeleteGinnie,
DeleteI know, it is always something. Guess if it were easy we wouldn't appreciate it:))
That wasn't a funny post. What have you done with Arkansas Patti? Well, I don't know about all that stuff. Guess I don't pay enough attention.
ReplyDeleteAnnie,
DeleteSorry about that. Perhaps Blogger stole my funny bone:))
