INVENTIONS FOR 2016

First I want to thank everyone for stopping by while I was inactive and struggling. You left such sweet and encouraging messages that made my day. It really meant more than you can imagine. I had problems with my medications that took forever to straighten out since they were necessary.

Somehow, sitting at my computer was the most painful. I was one giant gas balloon and was not really a popular choice for social functions. Gas is not fatal and certainly not glamorous but it hurts. Just ask a colicky baby.  I'm almost straightened out now and hope to be back bugging you on your sites.

Thank you so very much again. I've said it before but it bears repeating, you are the best.

Below are some things I would like to see invented during this promising year of 2016. If you can make them work, you are welcome to the idea--I would just like access to the finished product. You can handle all the money, stress and headaches that would come with being the inventor.

It has been told by people who have had near death experiences and have seen themselves lying there without life that we would never recognize our dead selves. All we have ever seen are the flat images of a mirror or photo.  We may not be as cute as we think or we possibly may be cuter.

So what I would like to see invented is a three dimensional mirror.  How nice to be able to see ourselves as others see us. Then we would see if our self images are correct. Hey, if we can have 3D phone images, why not a mirror?

Next and this is very doable.  I would like an app for doctors so that when they prescribe a medicine, the app connects to our prescription list from other doctors and would warn them that what we are all ready taking will not work well with that new medicine.

"WHOA , RETHINK THAT PRESCRIPTION" might be a good warning for the doctors. With so many specialists today branching out from the primary physician, often conflicting prescribing takes place. There are many souls in hospitals today for the simple reason of over medication.  Someone please work on that. I have been a victim.

One more thing then you can put your brains at rest. How about a dog wash? Now there is a gadget called a Woof Washer that does part of the job I'd like.

I want more. I mean like a car wash only for doggies.  It wouldn't have to be huge and should fit in a utility room so it could be used year round.  You would goggle your dog, then lead him through a device that lathers them up, rubs them gently, rinses, then blow dries the animal so that a sweet smelling pet emerges at the end. Quick, easy, no back strain, non messy and no groomer fees. A final squirt of cologne would be optional.

Ok, that should keep you busy for a while. Let me know when you have a prototype ready.

Anything you would love to see invented this year??

  1. So very, very pleased to welcome you back to the blogosphere! Toes crossed for a healthier 2016!
Love the ideas you have come up with. With all the apps in the world it's surprising that there isn't a med cross referencing app.
Here's to a peaceful, healthy and happy 2016!

  2. Hello, hello, hello. Glad to see you again. We actually have dog washes in Oklahoma and they are part of car washes. Yep, without them my son could not bathe his Great Dane. And, my insurance connects every prescription that I fill but mainly so they will know I am not abusing addictive drugs. I don't think they care if the medicines interact poorly with one another. They let me take hydrocodine for over a year and never warned me how horrible withdrawal would be. Bless your heart. Hang in there.

  3. I was so pleased to see that you are BACK! I missed you and thought of you often, although I wasn't one of those people who sent you messages to that effect. I'm just glad you're back. And I am very cautious of any drugs that I take, although I don't take many. I hear what Granny Annie says, since I had to get off oxycontin years ago and never suffered so much. It was awful, and the doctor didn't have a clue. I think the best way to stay safe is to research drug interactions ourselves and not leave it to the doctors. Again, welcome back, dear Patti. I really missed you. :-)

  4. Glad to see you back! I think the info sharing is about to be a reality, at least for local docs. I know my gyno shares with my gastro, and my family doc shares with both..all done on laptop which freaks me out because I think that it is too easy to hack online info.

    Happy New Year!!

  5. I am not good about contacting--phone, mail, messaging sites--but I have been thinking about you and sending healing energy when I could. May 2016 bring you improved health every day.

  6. Mrs. C says I am full of hot air, and that is why I blog. Not so funny though, glad you are feeling better.

Excellent ideas. I never washed my dogs, they smell like dog no matter what about 15 minutes after any bath so I just learned to like the doggy smell. Maybe an occasional hose down and lots of brushing. That new dog wash thing does looks great for when they do get a bit muddy.

  7. It's a delight to see you back. Hope it's all going well now.
Yeah.... I want the doggie washer. I love clean dogs and in
place of the groomer visit, I often end up taking Cody to
the doggie washer where you do it yourself. Cody is
always very good and obedient but that washer would be
    super easy and quick.
May your meds all be doing what they are supposed
    to do.

  9. Welcome back and Happy New Year. Hope 2016 will be a pain-free, healthy year for you. As for inventions, I have too much stuff in my house now.

  10. Hooray! Glad to see your blog bumped up on my blog list this morning. The Rx app sounds like a great idea! I'm thinking doctors are too full of themselves (and pharmaceutical dollars) to want help. But maybe!

If I was closer, you'd have free dog baths. My set up is similar to what I had back in my boarding and grooming days

Happy New Year and hope you continue to feel better.

  11. Two very interesting ideas.....I wish I had the brains to figure out how to make the doggie washer. As to the Meds: EVERYONE should own a PDR--Physicians Desk Reference, OR, look up whatever you can on the Internet. I'm afraid I don't have a lot of faith in doctors and think it's best to be as informed as possible, yourself! Love that you are posting again, dear Patti......I just don't seem to have the energy for it these days.....Hoping that will return, soon! Take good care my dear....!

  13. All excellent ideas. My favorite one is the prescription reminder for doctors. That one is so fantastic, I hope someone tries this. I can't tell you the number of times I have had to rescue my mother from her over-prescribing doctors.

It is so good to see a post here, Patti. I have missed you and your insights and stories. Welcome back! Happy New Year! And... keep getting well, my friend.

  14. Got the prototype for your prescription notification already done and it's not even techno-savvy. Make a list of your current medications; the ones you take all the time and the ones you take when you need them. Include both prescription and over-the-counter medications and supplements. Keep it on your computer and update it as needed. On a second page list the medications you might have taken in the recent past with reason and outcomes. Print out the page(s) and take it with you to the doctor's office. If the nurse takes it, make him/her give it back to you when they are finished so you can personally be sure the doctor sees it.

Glad you are beginning to feel better. Wishing 2016 brings a better year for you.

  15. Glad you are back, my Friend. I have missed you and thought about you often...

I would NOT want to see myself in a 3-D mirror.... Let others see what they wish... ha ha

Love your idea about the doctors talking to one another... A place where all of your prescriptions can be found so that all doctors can check on what you are taking, what you can't take, etc... Wonderful idea and someone needs to do it... However, people are so 'uptight' about their privacy these days that many folks may not like that list being OUT there somewhere.... I wouldn't mind a bit though... People who take all kinds of medications need to have them checked because there are side effects to all of them... Thank God that neither George nor I are on ANY prescription meds now....

Hugs and I hope that 2016 is MUCH better to you.
    Betsy

Aw, thank you so much. And I agree, there are so many meds that do not react well with others and even the doctors seem unaware.

    Grannie Annie,
I may just have to travel to Oklahoma. So glad someone has seen the need and hope it spreads to Arkansas.
I am so sorry you had to go through that. You are not alone-it happens too much.

    turquoisemoon,
Thank you and right back at ya.

    Djan,
Thank you so much. I have missed you all also.
I am so glad you and Grannie Annie posted that. MY sister has just been prescribed Oxycontin which she admits is over kill so I will tell her to be very careful and not take them if she can help it. Another reason I love blogging.

    Terri,
Yep, my docs share but they don't seem knowledgeable as to what will work with what. My cardiologist prescribed a med that virtually cancelled the effects of the three other meds I was taking that he also prescribed. Thank goodness for the internet but I wish there was an app for people who do not research their meds.

    Olga,
Aw thank you and I must have gotten your energy for I am doing much better. Hope 2016 is all you wish for.

    joeh,
Ha ha, I know I am nose blind to the smell but my visitors aren't. Lucky you to let your hot air out in a post for others to enjoy. Mine was not so enjoyable:))

    Manzi,
Oh I wish we had a do it your self place that had decent equipment. I have to use the tub and it kills my back. We need to push for one like they have in Oklahoma.

    Gail,
Thank you and for all your check up you sent my way. Much appreciated.

    Meryl,
Thank you and back at ya. Maybe an invention to automatically remove "stuff"?

    Barry.
Oh I wish you were closer also. Thanks for the offer. I think pharma has just gotten so swollen that nobody really knows what will react with what anymore. The info is there, it just must be hunted up. It sure is complex and takes me forever to figure it out on the computer.

    Naomi,
You are so right. We have to do the research ourselves but there are a lot of people who trust their doctors and are often made sicker by careless prescribing. Sure hope you get your Mojo back. I miss your posts.

    Fran,
Thank you so much. I missed everyone--especially the laughs you gave me.

    robin,
Thank you so much and I so appreciated your stopping by to check up. You are so right about so many who are trusting and are unaware that the doctors can be wrong. Good that you keep tabs on your Mom's meds. Keep up the good work.

    NCMountainwoman,
All my meds are on each doctors computers now, they only have to access it. The problem is that they don't always realize that some meds do not go together at all. My cardiologist prescribed a medicine the virtually made the other very important ones he ordered for me, useless. I caught it with research or no telling what could have happened. I feel for those who do not have access or desire to do the research.

    Betsy,
Thank you, it is a relief to be back and to be able to sit in front of the computer again.
That is what I mean. The side effects and contraindications with other drugs is what I think even smart doctors miss. There is just so much information and a computer program could cut right through the confusion.
You and George stay well and off the meds. You are doing everything right with diet and exercise so you should continue drug free.

  17. So glad to see you back, Patti! I'm really careful about any meds I'm told to take. I research, and I write down any supplement I'm taking too. Use your computer and make sure you take a list to any DR you need to consult. I think too many people are dosed with conflicting meds or have serious reactions to them. As for hte 3-D mirror - no thanks! I don't want a clearer vision of myself, or I might not leave the house. Hope you feel lots better soon.

  18. So happy you're posting again. You might want to check with your pharmacist every time there's a new med. I never fill a new prescription for my mother until our pharmacist checks out the med and its interactions with the other things she's taking. He has literally saved my Mom's life. Hope everything works out well for you in 2016.

  19. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I was so happy to see your name on the comment list! I said to myself, "She's back!" I have thought of you often. I'm glad you are better.

I too have so many problems with medications. I especially can't tolerate the heart meds. They get my stomach.

Your inventions sound quite interesting. My dog would never go for the device to wash him. He is afraid of almost anything that is mechanical.

    ReplyDelete
  20. You're back! Hurrah! And still full of bright ideas!
The medications issue will be solved when we have complete computerization of out health records. It is part of the ACA, but takes time and money. And it is meeting with resistance. With our medical provided, Group Health, a not-for-profit co-op, we do have computerized records and any doc in the system can check. Then you have to get the docs to do it.

  21. Missed you so much, Patti! I'm so glad you're feeling better. Happy New Year!

  22. It is so good to see you back, Patti! Loved your invention ideas...now if only someone could get them going. A cat washer would be good, too. But I've never had a cat that wouldn't go berserk at the thought of a bath. They do a pretty good job giving themselves baths, but sometimes a little help is needed.
Take care and be well and Happy New Year to you!

  23. My Dearest Patti so sorry to hear about all that is going on with you. I read the post before this to see why you have been out.
I am so relieved that you are still looking down at the grass. haha You are always such a hoot even when you don't feel good.
This getting older is not so much fun but I too like you am appreciative of still being here.
I came by to check on you and to wish you a Very Happy New Year. I hope everything gets straightened out for you and that you are able to write your much needed stories for all of us out here to enjoy.
Take care of yourself and glad you realized you are missed.
    Love
    Maggie

  24. Welcome back, glad to hear you are feeling some better. I hope things continue to improve.

I'm not particularly clever or inventive so have nothing new to add. I have to wonder though wouldn't the dog bath be very cold?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Barb,
Thank you. Sure feels good to feel good. You are smart to check interactions and side effects with your meds but think of all the people who don't know how to check. We really have some powerful drugs out there that are also toxic.

    Annie,
Thank you so much. It is great to be posting again. You make a good point about the pharmacist. They are more up on drug interactions than doctors are and are willing to work with you. Thanks for the reminder.

    Sally,
Thank you--great to be back. Boy those heart meds are murder aren't they. Hope you have found a solution also. I had to quit taking Warfarin. It was keeping me in pain.
I doubt my dog would either but I would love an easier way to make her smell better.

    Linda R,
Thanks--it's been too long. My doctors do have the computerized systems, they just don't seem to be up on what meds react badly with another. That is what I would like to see corrected.

    Dr. Kathy,
Aw thank you so much and back at ya for a great 2016.

    Cheryl,
Thank you, good to be back. Cats aren't keen on water are they? Fortunately Minnie does a good job of self grooming.

    Maggie,
So good to hear from you and I am so glad you stopped by. I know you have your own struggles now and hope all is going well with you. As long as we are still on the right side of the grass, all is good:))

    Eileen,
Thank you and you make a good point. That gadget looks like it may be for summer only. The dog washer I would like would have to have warm water.

  26. Great to have you blogging again ! Oh, boy ... gas is no fun (despite all the corny jokes) and I'm so glad you are better now. Every once in a while I will get an idea for something I thing would be exciting and then when I research it I find someone has already invented it !

  27. Happy New Year! It is so good to see you back again. Hope that you continue to improve and are feeling much better soon. I was amused watching the dog washer advert, dogs are so co-operative compared with cats (I hope that the dogs used in the ads hadn't had lobotomies!) ! Ha, ha... can you imagine subjecting a cat to a 360 degree water spray, a cat version of that video would be hilarious! Inventions for 2016.... as far as little gadgets go, I think a radio controlled miniature drone that shepherded pesky flies and insects out of the house would be a great asset in summer time. It would be nice to be able find an alternative to swatting, zapping, spraying! Pxx

  30. The less meds the better. Yeah this year I had a mess up with my heart and then the meds were the wrong ones for my very sensitive body.not sure an app would save me from the doc. I have to. So far it's working.

  31. Happy New Year, Patti. I love your idea about prescriptions! I'm so glad I can visit you again. I'm still rather in and out because of the project I'm working on, but I sure do love 'seeing' your voice tonight.
