SORRY CALLIE, IT'S JUST ME NOW

Well my company is all gone and all is back to normal, except for a heart broken dog.  Every time I have company, I realize my dog will leave me first chance she gets. She is a bit of a floozy.

When my brother and SIL got here, Callie forced her way into their RV and ran front to back whining frantically.  It was like she was saying, "You came back for me, you really did! I almost gave up hope. Why did you take so long?"

Really made me feel warm and loved---ha. I have always thought it is a good thing I have fenced property or she would go with the first person who drove up and opened their car door. She is always looking for a better deal.

The whole time Jim was here and sat on the couch, he had a 20 pound furry body draped over his lap. She followed him everywhere. I only got attention when it was time to feed her. Sigh.

The weather was pretty awful with high winds and hail one night but no damage was done. It was also cold and cloudy so we got in lots of catch up time.  Jim also did his usual and fixed a variety of things for me that needed a man's attention.  He cut down a tree, put a new blade on my mower and fixed the front door.  Sure is nice having a handy brother.

I would have taken pictures but Jim doesn't want his image on the Internet. I try to convince him that the worst that will happen is that someone one will Photoshop a naked body to his head. I have no fear of that. In my case, most any naked body would be an improvement.

My SIL loved my wraparound porch for she could get in her exercise walking rapidly around the house without getting wet. Hum, maybe I have underutilized my porch.

It was really great seeing them both. We had many a laugh and I got to experiment with recipes.  The fact that they bring their own house with them makes them easy peasy company. I miss them but am also glad to be back to my old routine and having my dog greet me enthusiastically once more.

Hope I didn't miss too much while I was gone and that everything went well for all of you.

  1. Wonderful you had the visit from your bro and wife plus bringingbtheir House along. Had friends who were touring the country with in laws stop in once, later a cousin & wife so sure simplifies entertaining. Such a fickle dog!

  3. What a magical kind of company - people who fix things and bring their own bed. Amazing!

  5. My dog is the same way with company. It's at times like that that I feel guilty he's not part of a large family.

Your company is the ideal kind to have. Please send them my way!

So glad I am not alone. I often think she would be happier in a more active family. I guess I will do for now.
      Hey, Jim works for food.

Jim just loves solving problems and is hurt if I don't have a few chores for him. He not only earned his keep, think I owe him.

Yes it was and while the headlights of company arriving are a delight, their taillights are not all that bad either.

I agree with Marty about your brother and sister-in-law being great company - bringing their own bed and fixing things!

Thank you, good to be back. If all company came so prepared, I'd run an open house.

  12. Sounds like a great visit and that Callie has a crush on Jim.

When my aunt and uncle used to visit the farm they brought their RV, I lived on the property in a house trailer and mom and dad were in the old farmhouse. Aunt Anna referred to their home as the kitchen, my trailer as the bathhouse (as I had a shower) and their RV as the bedroom. That extra little bit of privacy makes having company a little easier.

It certainly worked out quite well for all of you.
I agree, that dose of privacy is what makes the difference between a great visit and a so so one.

The porch was a big plus when I looked at this place. I love it.

  14. Great visit when your brother comes and you've said you always get everything back in brand new order,
Some breed of dogs are just fickle, I guess. Lily will get in any car with any sranger. Not a good thing. I hope it's just because she is still a puppy.

  16. Sounds like you had a wonderful visit with your brother and his wife sweet Patti. So nice of your brother to get things done for you that needed attention. Chancy and Pooh both do that when my son and his wife come over...I think they are jealous and want most of the attention. Your Callie love you and I would be very surprised if she chose someone else over you. Hugs and nose kisses for you all from us.

Now I would never have suspected that of Chancy. However, I am sure our pets are distracted by the new and shiny and in no time are back to being happy with us.

  18. I'm glad you had a great visit. About the dog. I feel your pain. Boston goes absolutely crazy when the kids and grandkids are here. I feel the same way when they show up. I want to jump on them and hug their necks and wag my tail and sit real close. Thankfully, the dog shows my emotions for me. I guess, I am not as jealous of how he treats them as I am about how they treat him. They roll on the floor and pet him and play games with him and say as almost as an aside, "Hi Mom" while they go ape over Boston.

  19. Your dog is a floozy, I like that. My dog goes crazy when my sons visit. He makes a yelp and a few other sounds that he only makes when he sees the guys and jumps up and down. When I go out for an hour or two and return home, he lifts up his head from his nap. That's it. Ha ha. I would like to have a home with a wrap around porch.

Know what you mean, Callie has different voices also for visitors. It is embarrassing the noises she makes for the UPS guy. She loves that guy in brown:))
Yes, the wrap around porch sold me on this house.
