I'M BACK AND FINISHING SENTENCES

First off let me say I have missed you guys--a little.  It would have been much more but I had a delightful distraction.  Had a good time with my brother and sis-in-law but as I said before, Jim doesn't like his image on the Internet so no pictures.

But he did as he always does. He fixes small things for me that have broken, that really don't require hiring someone to drive out here to make right.  I make a list for him and he nailed them all.  A broken latch on my door, a flat bicycle tire, fixed my lawnmower, and leveled my water fountain so it is easy to clean.

They are Cleveland Indian fans and oddly, Cleveland had three day games in a row they could watch from my service. They can only get them on radio in Ohio.  Cleveland won the series which was a nice change of pace for me. My Marlins are snuggled comfortably in the basement now. Winning is a rarity. Sigh.

We ate out once with a river view and talked lots the rest of the time.  Callie and Minnie LOVED all the extra attention and are showing their disappointment that it is gone. Sometimes, I am just not enough.  We had a great visit. They got home fine and am looking forward to the next visit. I'm sure some things will break before then for Jim to fix:)

As for finishing sentences, no, I am not talking about long married couples, but lately I find I am doing that for movie or TV characters.  I think perhaps I have read too many books or perhaps watched too much TV.  For when there is a dramatic pause in a character's speech, I just know his exact next words before he speaks them.  There is a bit of satisfaction in this but sometimes I wish I were wrong. There are few surprises.

Now I am sure you long married couples do this all the time but do you also do it for characters on a screen?  Just curious.

Well I am back and can't wait to get into the rut again. Good to see ya again.

  1. Sounds like a lovely visit with your brother and sister-in-law. It is always so good to spend time with people we love. About finishing sentences for TV personalities... yes, after a while characters are insanely predictable, right down to the words they're going to use.

    1. robin,
I like that, "insanely predictable". Fits the writers of those shows perfectly.

  2. It sounds like you had a great visit. Yes, once in a while I know how people will finish a sentence before they do, mostly in real life, not so much on TV.

    1. Terra,
Yes I did. I think the writers just get lazy and are easy to figure out.

  3. How good that you get all those jobs done by your brother.

    1. Fun60,
He is great for that and always wants a list. He works for food and a place to park his RV.

  4. I used to finish sentences for my sister, but after she snapped, "Will you just let me finish?!!", I hold my tongue and wait her out.

    1. Out to Pasture,
Sometimes folks just don't talk as fast as we would like. Sounds like you have reached a good agreement.

  5. A nice visit for sure. My Yanks are really disappointing so far, 1/2 their lineup is on the dl.

My wife learns dialog on movies quick and she sometimes recites it before the characters do.

I noticed, even my boy Stanton. Better now than in Sept I guess.

    Welcome back!

  7. welcome back! Interesting to me about finishing the sentences before they do on TV. Sometimes i do do this and it drives Rick mad. But maybe we should just write our own movie Patti and make some $$$
    :-)

  9. We also finish each other's thoughts and words. It is like a telepathy of sorts.

Yes, I do that with characters. the writers are so darn predictable.

  11. I wish you could send your fix-it brother up to see me! Glad you had a good visit.

I think finishing sentences for movies and TV characters does come from being a reader and knowing how plots and characters and people in general react to one another. The older I get the harder it is to surprise me.

  12. I am glad to have you back in the blogosphere. I just turned off the TV after watching the destruction of the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, fire burning out of control there. And during Holy Week, too. :-(

  15. Glad you had a lovely visit. One of my sisters lives out of town and the other just across, which might as well be out of town when I have to drive. I do enjoy having a sister close. Nothing like family and old friends who know all the funny stories about you.

Ha ha, have you noticed though that the memories are not always the same? Jim swears he never did any of the things I know he did and visa/versa.

  16. Your fix-it brother sounds like a real gem.
I have been a TV addict since we first got our first TV when I was a kid. Now I find myself guessing aloud the next plot twist or the who done it. I guess after so much time everything gets recycled.

I guess like there are no completely original songs anymore, there are no completely original stories.
      Sigh.

  17. I am happy for you sweet Patti getting to have a nice visit with your brother and sister-in-law. How nice that your brother fixes things for you when he comes. I finish sentences when I watch movies that I have seen before and sometimes when my sister and I are talking. Good to see you back...you were missed. Hugs to you and give Callie and Minnie nose kisses and tummy rubs for Chancy and me.

  19. Happy to see you back and glad to hear you had a good visit. My dogs hate for the company to leave because they get lots of attention and the guests look at me like I must deprive my pets.

    1. Annie,
Oh yes, they do get spoiled with all the attention and ignore me. It was funny though after a while they got the same treatment as I usually do when they came in. I told them the new must have worn off:))
