TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY

My odometer rolled over to another decade today. I am officially 70. Guess I have to edit my profile but at least now the title of my blog makes more sense. Just corrected it and dang, that was too easy. Where was the drum roll?

Seventy got here too quickly but at least I am here which is good. The faithful have heard this from me before but I will say it again as it is my favorite quote on aging by the master, George Burns. This is just a bit altered to fit the occasion. "No one wants to be 70 unless you are 69."

The Beatles were kind enough to sing me a song which was sent to me by a friend. If you wish to sing along, go here. It is kind of cute. The mooning and rude gesture are done by a cartoon character so you shouldn't take offense. It has a good beat and is easy to dance to.

You say it's your birthday

It's my birthday too--yeah

They say it's your birthday

We're gonna have a good time

I'm glad it's your birthday

Happy birthday to you.

Thanks John,George, Paul, and Ringo. Sweet of you to stop by.

I've noticed that my cards this year are generally sweet not funny. Think that might be in deference to my new decade. Thanks people for being so gentle this year. Even my family went easy on me.

Joyce was the only friend who stayed true to form. I can always count on her for a laugh. We are in the same boat. Can't wait to see what the mail man brings today.

Margaret, I adored your crafted e-mail. It was precious. You have got to quit lurking on the blog though and jump into the fray. Come on in, the water is nice.

I had thought I would take Mighty kayaking today. He has never been and I was hoping to train him to sit still in my tippy little craft. He even has a life vest which he looks smashing in. Notice how the vest matches his eyes. He is so stylish.

However, while the rains make the grass grow, they also make the mold spores reproduce and I am sporting a whale of a headache this morning. That will teach me to sleep with the windows open.

The timing could have been better for a mold headache but the beauty of retirement is that nothing can't be put off till a better day except maybe your doctor appointments. So, till my head quits being an annoyance, today will be quiet.

Hello 70, you aren't so scary.

  3. Happy Birthday. It is nice to see you are thinking of taking your dog, who doesn't look like he wants to go anywhere in that green straight jacket, boating.

Welcome to our little town. What a true delight to meet you all today. You are my first bloggers to have a face to face. It was such fun and I look forward to dinner tomorrow night. Thank you.

    Abe,
Well he didn't get to wear it and he is probably pretty happy about that. He really likes it when he is in the water. It makes paddling with a bum leg easier.

    4th sister,
Thank you so much. Pretty sure it will be.

    Pat,
Well now I like the sound of that "youngun" Thanks I needed that.

    Robin,
That is so sweet of you to say. Your gift has been your constant support from day one. Thank you.

    richies,
You are still a whippersnapper. Bet you don't have to wait till you are 70. So envy your trip to see Paul. We want pictures.

    cheffie mom,
Thank you ,thank you, thank you. Been great so far.

    Brighid,
Thank you so much. I guess we had best send out only good, Huh.

  15. Apologies for hopping in late but I still made it in time not to be late-late: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, and I won't sing...it needs to be joyous, not onerous.

And Luckie sends greeting to you and Mighty. I just looked up Luckie's age a few days ago. We think she is 7-8 dog years which equates around 50 according to some calculations. Just a young whippersnapper.

Mighty surely is smashing in his vest. He needs to teach Luckie a love of water. She won't go near it. I so wanted a fishing companion, but it won't be her.

You can revel in the fact you and most of your bloggies will always be younger than I am (72-closer to 73).

I truly hope you've had a wonderful day and plenty of well wishers. Don't eat too much cake!!!

  16. Happy Birthday!! I can't imagine anything, certainly not a number, scareing you.

    Love the doggie life vest
    He's a sweetie

  17. Happy Birthday! Hope you had a great day in spite of the headache. Mighty is mighty cute!

  18. Nitwit,
Glad you and Luckie made it and you certainly weren't late. Thank you so much.
Mighty is around 12 and since small dogs who have longer life spans, they get a break on the dog year thing. He and I are roughly the same age. Wish I could chase rabbits like he does when all his legs are functioning.
    Hay,72---70---same thing

    Dianne,
Thank you for your confidence in me and for your wishes. Mighty is a dashing little dude isn't he?

    Betty,

Thanks so much and yes, the headache left so I had a really nice day. Mighty enjoyed the extra activity today. Me too.

  19. Patti-

As usual, I am late getting in to this one. Happy Birthday belated!

I literally laughed out loud with your comment about Mighty's eyes matching his vest. I hope he gets to try his paws at kayaking soon.
