BACK AGAIN

Well I certainly hope you all had a wonderful Easter with your choice of worship or not, enjoyed good food and hopefully with family or friends.

I had a great week with my brother Jim, and sister-in-law Shirley.  They are the perfect company. They bring their own home (RV) and shared in the meal preps. Easy peasy.

One bad thing was the weather.  We had several tornado warnings.  Jim said they had run into similarly ugly weather for about a month as they moved from state to state coming here. I suggested that it might be them causing it.  They weren't buying it:)

The other bad thing is about 60 miles from here, they developed a scary problem with the RV.  Shirley said she could smell gasoline when they would stop. Jim could not find any signs of gas leaking as it only leaked when under the pressure of the motor running.   I am just so grateful that they didn't catch on fire. When they pulled into the front yard the smell was REALLY strong. Jim said they used 50 gallons in the last 60 miles. Yikes.

We are a tiny town here so I really didn't know where they could get it fixed. Jim made several calls.  The Ford Motor Company wanted to send him to Memphis, Tenn. Nope.  Then a semi local RV dealer said they couldn't get to him for 4 months but they recommended a mechanic that was only 2 miles from me.

Jim called him and he took him in the next day and in an hour, had it fixed. Seemed some harness had come loose and had worn a hole in the gas line. The mechanic secured the harness and spliced the line.  No more leak or smell.  Tiny town came through.

Outside of being house bound due to the ugly weather, we had a great time catching up. They are big Cleveland Indian Guardian baseball fans and I was able to record 4 games for them that they normally only get on radio at home and fortunately, Cleveland won them all handily. I got kind of a little reattached to the team too. When I was a kid, they were my team.

I would like to say I missed you all but actually I was too busy. I know you feel the same way when you have delightful company.

But I am back and looking forward to our chats. Now I am missing you.

Hope you all stayed well and safe while I was gone.

It was all that and baseball was the dessert.

  2. Yikes on the RV's gas leak! A couple of years ago a chipmunk chewed into my car's gas line. Not good! Not tornado level, but we had very strong winds here as well. Downed some trees.

Hope the chipmunk got a mouth full:) Sorry you had windy weather too but glad no real damage.

  3. Jim and Shirley were lucky ... or else they knew just the right place to visit! There must be something about the Cleveland baseball team. My brother-in-law grew up outside Cleveland, but left there 50 years ago -- and he's still a big fan!

Yes they were. I didn't even know the guy worked on RV's. Once a fan always a fan. I left Florida 18 years ago and still pay to see the Marlins play.

  4. So glad that gas leak was fixed before something awful happened. As you said, the tiny town came through! Welcome back, dear friend.

  5. Nothing is scarier than traveling in an RV when something serious like a gas leak happens. Finding repair places can be such a crap shoot.

Glad your break from blogging brought you fun times.

Isn't that the truth? Mechanic, a doctor or even a hair dresser are a crap shoot. Jim really lucked out. They are home now and no problems.

  6. Patti, so nice to hear you had a busy week with your brother and it sure is good hearing from you again! I don't even know, do you come from a big family? Where is Jim in the lineup? And for the record, I'm still in shock the Cleveland Indians changed their name! Anyway I'm just very glad to hear you had a nice Easter. 🐣🙂

    1. Doug,
Thank you. Actually there was a blended family (to brothers and 2 step sisters) for for a while I was the baby, then briefly the middle child and for a while the oldest. I have all the complexes:)

  7. I was happy also to have time with family this past week. How in the world can your brother travel and afford gas these days? Yikes, I worry about driving 30 minutes to my daughter's. I am happy for you that they did visit and that you could enjoy the ball games. Also happy they found someone who could fix the RV.

    1. Annie,
I feel the pain too. His RV takes 100 gallons. One fill up would make me need resuscitation. Then they only get about 7 miles a gallon with out leaks but they swear they save on lodging and meals. I'll take his word for it.

  9. Welcome back Patti! Sounds like you had a good visit with your family... and so glad they were able to get their RV fixed. Catching up is always fun. I was able to do that while visiting with our oldest son in Texarkana the weekend before Easter.

  11. That sounded like a wonderful visit! Great they got that gas line fixed with the cost of gas and all. Let alone the danger! While never a Guardian fan I went to most Cleveland baseball games in my youth with my Dad, my cousins etc. Quick 90 minute trip there. My family was all Cleveland team fans. I just love going to baseball games but it was even more fun when i could taunt my dad and cousins if they played my team. Family doesn't hold back. LOL

    1. Peg,
That is such fun when the family pulls for different teams. Kind of like when Cleveland played the Marlins for the World Series title 97 which my Marlins won. Jim and I had some teasing words. Actually being a former Indians fan I would have been OK with who ever won. Couldn't let him know that though.

  12. So nice that company can come visit with their own "room" too. Very glad the home town mechanic could fix the RV.
A car next to me kept motioning to stop and look; yelled at me that gas was leaking. Pulled over to a parking lot, and yep, it was dripping out. Had it towed to my mechanic. He said I was lucky I stopped. Whew! Linda in Kansas

When they do bring their own home, it gives each party some private time to unwind.
Wow, you really had a scare and that was thoughtful of the other car to let you know.

  15. It's always good to have you back Patti and I really appreciate your wonderful comments on my blog. I only post my blog entries every 6th day so that gives me a bit of time for other things and if I really want a few weeks off I schedule ahead. (Like AC I used to post daily but that started to really take all the fun out of blogging so I switched to my current way.)

  17. Welcome back! We had a nice family dinner, with 2 daughters, 2 grandchildren and one boyfriend (from Istanbul)
who was a delightful guest!! Other than spilling a huge plate of food into my lap (upside down) all went well. Grandson grilled Prime rib and we all made sides and dessert. Since it was warm and sunny, we ate outside. Jim stayed in the house; he was afraid of pollen.

  20. That sounds like a super scary situation. I am amazed they could ride it in so long like that. I rode in a car once with a leaking weed eater in the back and it made me sick as a dog. Your visit sounded wonderful. It is so nice to see family.

I'm going to be in and out for the next few months. Things are hectic here and to be honest, we'll be on a trip eventually also.

  27. Cleveland was my team in 1948, when they also happened to win the Pennant. That was the year we left Ohio and they kept me attached to what I thought of as home.
