I don't know if you watch Big Bang Theory or Mom but they are two of my favorite, laugh out loud TV shows. At the end of each show for about 3 seconds the producer, Chuck Lorre will flash one of his vanity cards. If you don't have a pause feature on your TV, you will never be able to read them. I do and I always check.
The guy is really funny, his topics usually off the wall and will often give insight to the show though sometimes you wonder what he is smoking. Regardless, they are worth the minute to read. The last show, even without the pause feature, anyone could read for it only said," Got nothing."
That was me for today but a blogger I follow, Ginnie at Goldendaze-Ginnie was sweet enough to give me an award. Ginnie has a very interesting blog and she and I have a lot in common. If you don't go there all ready, check her out.
Thank you so much for the award and for bailing me out of a writer's block Ginnie.
The rules are:
1. Link to the blogger who has nominated you.
2. List seven random facts about you.
3. Nominate seven creative, beautiful bloggers and let them know about the nomination.
I am doing 2 out of 3 which is good for me. I have provided links to the posts mentioned on the list if you want details but trust me, the synopsis is enough.
1. First random fact is that I don't always follow the rules as evidenced by my handling of this award. Bad Patti.
2. I love gypsies. My little car had broken down in the middle of nowhere in south Georgia. A band of gypsies stopped to help. The men patched my car, then tucked me in the middle of their colorful group of vehicles and safely nursed me to a large town that would have the part I needed. They made me feel safe and secure.
3, I have been known to over reach which is how I became a clown in a circus. Tried out for high wire for the Sailor Circus, forgetting I am terrified of heights. Funny but a clown costume suited me much better than the tutu.
4. I shared a wall in the hospital with the actor George Hamilton when I quit smoking. Odd how he got all the attention from the nurses and I got zip. He did look fantastic with a 10 day growth of beard and bed hair.
5. I love Mennonites. What a caring and selfless people they are. They gave of themselves in a time of crisis when a flood took all I had. They made me smile when it was hard to.
6. I have been clean and sober since 1976 which is when I cleaned up my act dumping alcohol and is probably why I am alive today.
7. I love blogging, reading others as much as writing my own. Even on days when I "have nothing," a blogger that I follow will save my bacon.
Thank you Ginnie for the award and for giving me some words to type today. I so hate that blank page syndrome.
If you also find yourself facing the dreaded blank page, feel free to borrow this challenge.
What do you do for writer's block?
Oh Patti, you are one of the most interesting people I follow. I always look forward to learning more about you, and this was especially tasty. None of those facts about you are hard to believe, and I especially congratulate you on all those years of sobriety. If I get writer's block I just put up a picture or two and call it a post. :-)
ReplyDeleteDjan,
DeleteThank you. I am so glad you think so. You have such great scenery and take such great shots. You have a built in plan B.
Funny how Big Bang Theory never seems to get old.
ReplyDeleteOlga,
DeleteI dread the day they say "the end."
I love those two shows!
ReplyDeleteI also enjoyed your secrets and links.
A well deserved award.
Gail,
DeleteThanks. Aren't those shows fun? Lorre really knows how to make us laugh.
They are lifesavers. I need to laugh more. Have you watched Life In Pieces...not as funny but same night.
DeleteThe dogs are certainly happy here or they are good liars.
Gail,
DeleteYep, especially enjoy the old folks on that show. They are pistols.
Like I said in my last post. Dogs can't lie. Their faces and tails give them away everytime. You have happy dogs.
Good morning, sweet Patti. I have never watched either of those shows. I am not a big TV fan though I do watch movies. Congratulations on the award. As for writer's block...bird and critter pictures come in handy. Hugs, Maggie
ReplyDeleteMaggie,
DeleteAll you have to do is show me shots of some birds, Pooh or Chancy and I am good.
Ah, "Got Nothing"-- I face that dilemma quite often. I hope for something amazing to snap me out of my doldrums. I run outside and look at the sky hoping for a rainbow or an arc or some beautiful cloud. I go for a walk. I try to remember something that sparked my imagination. Or, I let the blog go for a while without a post, hoping for inspiration.
ReplyDeleterobin,
ReplyDeleteYou have such an unusual sky--or maybe I don't look up enough--so you always have something good. I usually learn on those days.
I don't watch TV so am unfamiliar with the shows you referenced. I do enjoy your blog immensely and the comments you leave on my blog are great. Thanks. Writer's block strikes fear in my heart therefore my mind is constantly on the hunt for ideas. I try to have several posts prepared and waiting in the wings. If I'm caught without one I start reading blogs I don't normally read & go online to read the news. Have a good day. You are a bright spot in my morning.
ReplyDeleteLinda,
DeleteAw thanks. You always do a great job and are interesting and fun to read. Don't know how you post daily. I did that in the beginning, not anymore.
How can you have writers block when you were a clown in a circus.
ReplyDeleteI want stories, and I want them now!!
joeh,
DeleteHa,ha maybe I will do a rerun on that phase. It was unfortunately brief.
I loved reading this. You have had such an interesting life.
ReplyDeleteSally,
DeleteThank you. When younger I always thought I would want on my tombstone--"IT WASN'T BORING." Too bad I will be cremated.
A PERFECT epitaph for you!!
DeleteI don't watch TV so I can't say about the shows you listed.
ReplyDeleteMore a story teller than a writer, is how I see myself.
Brighid,
DeleteMe too but we still have to think of and write the stories. Sigh.
We also watch those two shows. Mom is very underrated.
ReplyDeleteStephen,
DeleteTotally agree. Mom has become my favorite.

ReplyDeleteI had forgotten you were a clown in the
ReplyDeletecircus at one time.
Now I remember that you had mentioned
that before. What fun that must have been. LOL
Manzi,
DeleteYou certainly have been with me for a long time and thanks for remembering. It was a blast. Think I might have missed my calling by not going pro.
I loved reading more "facts' about you! You have to have had the most interesting life of anyone I am aware of. You should write your memoir. Most would probably think you made it up! I for one would love to read it.
ReplyDeleteLinda R.
DeleteThank you so much for thinking that. That is quite a compliment. I'm afraid the stories are all true. I'm not that clever.
Congratulations on your sobriety! It makes everything else better.
ReplyDeleteLinda M,
DeleteThank you Linda and yes it does.
Love Big Bang Theory, but have never heard of Mom or the vanity cards. I do have the pause option but probably have never watched the credits. Too busy changing channels.
ReplyDeleteA clown? You definitely have lived an interesting life. Congrats on having quit smoking and sobriety!
Eileen,
DeleteThank you. Those two moves are why I am here today.
Next time you watch, check out the very end.
I enjoyed learning more about you, Patti. One thing that I learned is that you've had a far more interesting life that I have had! Have you thought about writing a book? All of us here would order a copy! Have a nice week!
ReplyDeleteCheryl,
DeleteI doubt that. While you were raising a family, I was free to try all sorts of off the wall stuff. Your life is way more interesting and significant.
What do I do? I stop writing. :) I loved your facts about yourself. It's amazing what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteMary lee,
DeleteWell that is simple. Why do I make things so hard ?:)) I always fear if I just write nothing I will quickly become comfortable and quit all together. I am a hugely lazy person.
Oh my gracious! What a life you've led, Patti! You're amazing! I guess that's what makes your blog so very interesting. I LOVE the Big Bang Theory, but have never heard of Mom. I don't think we have it here.
ReplyDeleteKay,
DeleteIt comes on here on the same channel and day as Big Bang. Sorry you don't get it. Sheldon makes my day.
I love those shows. Will look tomorrow night at the end of both for the vanity cards. Today my face for the 29 Faces is supposed to be Allison Janney of MOM but you have to have a good imagination to see her.
ReplyDeleteAnnie,
DeleteI love Allison on that show. They are both so funny. I will check out your version of her face.
Congratulations Patti for you well deserved award. Your total right about the Mennonites. We were privileged to be invited through a mutual friend to spend an entire day in their community here in Minnesota. Gracious, kind friendly and generous they certainly were. We had a wonderful visit...:)
ReplyDeleteTB,
DeleteThey are so special and giving. I really respect their way of life and spirit. We could all take a lesson.
I always smile when I read facts about your life, Patti. Maybe I shake my head a little, too... I have always had a writing discipline, and I think maybe I always will. Actually, I've found that I'm quite content to write about nothing in particular - I'm not sure if that's good or bad.
ReplyDeleteBarb,
DeleteDon't feel bad, I shake my head sometimes also at what I get into.
That is what I lack, discipline. Wish I had it.
I hesitated doing the whole thing, Patti, but didn't want to hurt Bonnie's feelings. I don't think I would do it again although I enjoyed reading what you had to say and see that we have a lot in common.
ReplyDeleteGinnie,
DeleteIt is always so thoughtful of someone to gift us of an award so I am always flattered to be selected and it does give me a blog post--so thank you.
While I have never shared a hospital wall with anyone remotely famous, I did quit smoking...but unfortunately not until 2009. Better late than never I guess. I'm still trying to wrap my head around you as a high wire walker...did I read that right? :) Have a super weekend!
ReplyDeleteTerri,
ReplyDeleteActually I trained for the high wire on a low wire about 3 feet off the ground. When I got comfortable, I tried to graduate to the high wire and just couldn't make it. Scared to death. Duh.
HI Patti, As I think of all your stories that I have read, here today I learn something new about you. I know I have probably missed more than I have read. That said, I always enjoy my visits however sporadic.
ReplyDeleteGQ,
ReplyDeleteI am always thrilled when you do comment. We have been blog buddies a long time. you know how to make me laugh. Wish you would get back to writing. You have been missed.
