BOWING OUT

I am pretty sure I have said this before, but I have NOTHING to say and the sad thing is that my want-to- have-something-to-say is gone also. Before it would upset me greatly that there was a block but now I just feel like maybe it is time. So for now, I am hanging up my keyboard and am going outside to play for a while. Perhaps with no mental deadline, thoughts will flow again. If not, this has been an amazing venture.

Hopefully this too shall pass but if it doesn't, this has been one special year and a half for me. I have purged myself of pent up stories and had a blast doing it. You have witnessed my animals stories, my own and those of my acquaintances. I have shared, you have read and encouraged. Too bad your support can't be bottled for it has been a wonderful, almost addictive drug.

While I will most likely not turn up on your new post list, I will turn up in your comments list as time permits. I have grown attached to you all and do not intend to cut the cord.

Thank you for being in my life.... I will still be in yours.

Your friend Arkansas Patti

  4. Everybody deserves a vacation, I have a feeling you'll be back maybe not posting so often but only occasionally? I will miss you sorely as you go out to play

  5. Good luck in what ever you decide to do. I will miss your funny stories. I know the feeling. I use to take one day and post ahead, but I haven't done that in a while. It seems with more things to do outdoors and with Abe's problems, I just neglect getting to my friends blogs. It is something more or less to do when the weather is bad or I have loads of time. And at the moment I don't seem to have loads of time, plus I find I am reading books more now and enjoying it more. Keep a notebook handy and jot down little things that happen, then if and when you do get back to the blog, you're have material. Abe has said several times he's quitting, and he does for a day or two, and next thing I know he's back at the computer again, posting something. But he has way too many blogs. One is all I can handle. I am also on Facebook now and keep up with some of my friends there. You might want to think about that. Again, Good Luck, have a great Summer and hopefully you'll be back when the weather turns cold again.

  6. I will miss your postings since I just found you recently but I do understand the feeling. Have a wonderful time away with no pressure and do know that I too will be thinking about you and wishing you the very bestest summer ever. Play, have fun and renew......The Olde Bagg, Linda

  7. You know me, Patti, I am a firm believer in taking time away from blogging. Take a break, enjoy your time away, work in your garden, hike a new trail, and then... come back with a renewed passion for writing. I always believe a writer is a writer, and you are a writer. A hiatus is a good thing, but I know something will spark your muse. I look forward to your return.

  8. OH NO!!!! Surely you have not run out of old boyfriends! You get out there and drum up some more stories, Lady. . . you could make a grocery list sound good.

    You've certainly earned a vacation.

  10. Like everyone else I have enjoyed your stories so much. Why not take time out to compile your stories into a book. You are a gifted writer! Just think about it! I do hope you return some day refreshed, renewed and full of new adventures to share.

  11. I have really enjoyed your postings, Patti. I so hope your bowing out is only temporary and the blogging bug bites you again! Meanwhile, enjoy life's little moments and visit when you can.

  12. I know how you feel. I struggle with the same thing all the time. I ran out of stories long ago, and now it is difficult for me to come up with a new blog once or twice a week. I do hope you'll decide to come back after a good rest. I'll miss your stories.

  13. Patti I'm going to miss your stories but I understand your feelings and respect them. Sometimes I just don't write for a week or so - life gets in the way, I'm out of words, whatever. Sooner or later though I seem to make my way back. Perhaps you will too. If not, don't go far! But have fun with whatever you're doing. blessings, marlene

  18. Wow, I've said it before and I will say it again, you people are the very best.

To all my lovely visitors, thank you so very much for your very kind comments. They are better than chocolate.

Without you, blogging would be a pretty empty occupation. You really make it hard for me to shut down. Knowing I will still see you on your blogs makes it almost OK. I do plan to visit you all as often as possible.

Today has been like a skip day. Just wonderful but with a vague sense of playing hooky.

Hopefully when we are once again confined to our homes by bad weather, I will pull out the ole keyboard again. Guess that would make me a foul weather writer.

I really want to thank each of you who stopped by for being here. Your comments mean so much. Some of you are new and some have been here from the very first day like Judy and Robin. You are all special to me.

Thanks for a wonderful ride. I will be seeing you soon on your blogs and that is a threat.

  19. All I can say is DITTO to what everyone else has said.

Like several said, your blog was one of the first I stopped at everytime I sit down

The muse vacation comes upon all of us. I am considering 1-2 per week, at least until my head finds itself again.

Although I love to write, photography tops writing and I might eventually convert more pictures less words. I know I'm a rank amateur.

    Winter is best for blogging.

If you are in my area feel free to look me up. I am in most area phonebooks in Mountain Home area.

We are hoping to plan a similar mini-vacation at Black Oak this year too.

Get out your canoe and float the Buffalo with a good book.

However I may move over to Flickr fof

  20. Hi Patti,

I've been amazed at your stamina, and have often wondered how you have kept it up! Your posts have been wonderful, thought provoking, fun, and warming for the heart and soul. We have been soooo lucky to be able to drop on by and read your blog. Thank you so much for it.
Hope you are able to dust down that canoe of yours and enjoy a little vacation.

It would be so nice if someone was able to publish your blog in book form, I am sure it would hold a much treasured spot on any library shelf. Just been looking at the film, "Julie and Julia", which featured someone becoming famous out of sitting down and doing a cooking blog for a year (you may well have seen it).

Hope the muse returns, that we are able to keep in touch, and life opens up even more adventures!

Much love from Peter, Laura, Ginger the cat, and ... a certain black kitten who has moved in now! xxxx

  22. Patti - I am late into this one, as usual. Take all the time you need. The posts will come. I have a week worth of Arizona posts and hundreds of pictures to go through, but also a garden that is sitting there empty, and another trip on the horizon.

See you when we see you. :)

  23. Rest up! Enjoy the summer, or how ever long it takes you to renew and refresh. One of these days, some wonderful, as yet unreported, tale will pop into your mind and you'll just *have* to share it with us; I hope that day is not far away.

  24. :-(( I never in my wildest dreams expected to read this! It makes me sad & I am going to miss you and your posts more than you'll never know. I do wish you change your mind & decide to write about what you are doing/thinking once in a while. Just a few pics of Mighty would also do !!

I wish you happiness and I'm sure you're onto something more exciting for sure. If you don't mind, please leave your e-mail ID as a reply here or in my blog!! I'd always want to "keep tabs" on one of my favourite bloggers & people in a continent so far away.

  25. Oh NOOOOOO! I cannot believe you will be stopping bloggging...I hope it is just a little breather and that you will return REFRESHED and RARING TO WRITE! I love the way you write and have shared so many interesting things about your life....I KNOW you couldn't possible have covered it all, dear Patti....Anyway, I hope your time away will be wonderful for you, but PLEASE, Do Come On Back!

  26. Patti,
I've enjoyed your posts so much, but I do understand how sometimes you just want to do something else.
Drop a line from time time and I'm always up for a little trip to Arkansas....I hope.

I'm going to cross my fingers and pray that your "want to" returns because I will miss your posts so very, very much!!! I'm glad that you will not disappear, though...at least that's some consolation...but still...I'm not a happy camper!!! ;-} Love you!! Have a wonderful weekend! Janine XO

  30. When I saw the title of this post show up on my blog list, I walked on by several times. I suspected the news would fit the title and I did not want the news or the goodbye. Now that I have read it, I was right and it stinks just about as much as I exspected (sorry for being so selfish). I have grown to admire you and your writing and I will miss you!
I certainly hope you continue to write and find an avenue to share. You are very gifted and your writing has always been a joy to read.
I wish you good health and much happiness. May God bless you and keep you. You have been the best blogger buddy. Thanks for all the great reads and sharing glimpses into your life and who Arkansas Patti is. It has been wonderful.

  31. All your lovely comments are making it hard for me to take a break. It is a good thing I know where you live in blog world and can visit at will. That will make it easier for me. No way I could go cold turkey.
I do plan to play a bit and enjoy the summer and yes my yellow kayak is involved.
Thank you for being the best blog buddies ever. Perhaps this fall---?
In the meantime, for sure I'll see you in your comment section as time permits.
Big time thanks to you all.Love ya.

  32. Hi Patti! Of course you are in our lives!! We know that you are entitled to have a long holiday, but don't stay away too long, please! Thanks for your visit!

  33. I for one suffered of such blockness that with so many things to write I tend to withdraw instead.

Even in my posting of comments I encountered problems. That was one of the push that made me lax and discourage to comment.

Now I can tell which blog I am not allowed to post comments after checking the setting, I finally have worked it out.

And if someone's blog comment box will show a cascade of option to show my Identity, I dare not pursue because it won't come through.

Meantime, I agree that you need some time out of the blog world if your body says so and then later you will feel refreshed.

On a grand note in between bouts of depression (could be the weather?) I am loving some grandmothering moments with my first grandchild.

I hope you are not feeling downhearted by my long absence.

I am still thinking of sending you a postcard. Smile!

(Oh by the way, I did remove my Follow List. But I never removed you in my heart.)

  36. I only found you a shory while ago ...please do not stop posting ...I dont care that there might be a month or so between and as you can see from my blog,I rarely have deep thoughts ...just a few photos and few words would be great ...and I am sure something will make you mad or happy, on and off. I so look forward to sitting across the table from you with a coffee and a cake ....how I wish it was not just in my imagination.
Maybe not being under pressure will help .... think of it as though you were on vacation .....PLEASE keep in contact through our blogs ....we love you.xx

  38. Hi Patti! Thanks for your visit. Your comments are always very welcome. My family is now in France and will leave next week for Australia. I miss them. We went to two different holidayparks. One in the woods of the Veluwe in the province of Gelderland. The second one on the island of Texel, which has a very different scenery. Patti, I hope to see you often.
