A PAIN IN THE ARSE

No,it's not that I am the pain  nor that someone else is, I just really do have a pain in me arse. I put my back out the other day (not sure how which isn't new) and am a bit too bunged up to blog.

For some reason, the pain has taken up residence primarily in  my lower back and right butt cheek. I can stand OK once I am up,  walk with a limp but sitting makes it much worse and is to be avoided if possible.

So, you can rest your eyes for a while as typing standing up isn't working for me. Thank goodness I am not having to use "white out" to correct errors like the old days.

I probably won't be around to visit either so as Judy at Imagine would say, "don't write anything really good while I am gone. I'd hate to miss it."

This is nothing really new though the location is a bit novel. It too shall pass and hopefully I will see you on the flip side in  a few days fit as a fiddle and ready to play.

  1. Oh that is a bummer!! Get it? Ok no because bum is a British word for butt. And once you explain a joke, it's doomed to failure.

Get well soon, and I promise not to write anything good! Well I never do anyway. :D

  2. Well, we're twins, except mine is in the left hip. I just take pills and ignore it as much as possible. I hope we are both better soon.

  3. I know how truly miserable that is. The fun part is going to the toilet. Hang in there. Pain pills can help.

  5. Three weeks ago, I did the same thing, and it was really painful. I finally went to a chiropractor and he fixed me right up. Some residual pain lasted another week, but it was bearable, and now I'm good as new! See you when you're there, too! :-)

  6. Patti....that's Siatica! I get it about once a year.Last time it went all the way down to the back of my knee. There is nothing the Dr. can do but give you pain pills. My last bout lasted 3 weeks. You have my sympathy, I know how painful it is. XO

  9. That sounds familiar.... Relax and recover. We'll be fine, but you will be missed.

  10. Blame it on the heat!

Well catching up with my writing is easy. I probably will not have written more than one blog before you are well.

I had a siege of back pain when I fell a few months ago. NOT FUN. I moaned and groaned; nobody heard me but the dog. My husband keeps his hearing aid off when he gets tired of hearing me.

  11. Well, Patti, I'm sorry that you are hurting. I'll miss you very much, and I hope that you feel better soon.

    God bless,

    Kathy M.

PS - I keep thinking about those rubber donuts that my Mom had to sit on when she took a bath after having a baby ... do they still make those? Would that make things more comfortable, I wonder?

  14. Oh I hate those pains. Perhaps you have arthritis in your back? That is my issue. See your doc if it doesn't get better. I miss you Patti, and I did write something with a clue in it for you..only you. Dianne

  15. Certainly feeling empathy for you Patti. A 8 ft. fall once left me with more sciatic nerve pain than the pain from the resulting broken ankle. Take Care!

  16. OOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW!!!! I've had problems with my sciatic nerve in the past--it felt like I had an UNSET broken leg! I ended up in surgery--I hope you don't have to. At least, I'm all better now.

  17. I am so sorry your back is playing up ...hope it gets better soon ...sounds as though the sciatic nerve is involved ...is it going down the leg too? Gentle hugs xx

  18. It does sound like sciatica. I use ice and a chiropractor.

  19. My son stands at his computer all the time. I also knew a professor who had a long shelf on one side of his office high enough for him to walk back and forth as he worked. I've been thinking about giving it a try. Hope you're all better soon.

  20. I think you need to go see a chiropractor! they do wonders!

  24. I hope you try lordosis, lie flat on your stomach on the bed with your arms at your side, no pillow and relax for about ten minutes, then slowly raise up on your elbows and arch your back, this helps for me. Sleep with a pillow between your legs, this keeps the spine aligned. Use an ice back where it hurts, that always helps me too. I hope you get better quickly.

  25. Oh My Dear....I am so sorry you are going through this....It is often so very mystifying WHY the back goes funny on us---I know exactlly what you mean---And then, there you are, with a pain in the "arse"....OY!

And I wanted to tell you I FINALLY have a new post up.....lol...But, it will be there when you are feeling better, my dear Patti, so I hope--for your sake---that is very very soon. When sitting hurts too---Well, that is a real drag...!!!

  26. Really Sorry to read that you are so uncomfortable, that sort of thing is no fun at all. I see from other comments that you are not alone in your suffering, and that there are a smorgasbord of gruesome sounding variations that could come under the genteel heading (or tailing) of, "lower back pain"!

  27. Uh oh. No current posts. I hope that means that it's all healed and you're off being rowdy.

Seriously, though, I hope they found an answer for your pain. It must be hard to function like that!

  28. Wow you all are the very best. Thank you all so much for stopping by with the good wishes, diagnosies and remedies. Pretty sure you are right about what the problem is.
I am a bit better, not as good as I would like but I am definitely going in the right direction.
Still hurts to sit so I will stay silent till that quits.
Thank you, thank you ,thank you.
    See ya soon.

  34. This happened to me years ago when I was still running races - the pain in the butt is like a plunging knife. Just try to rest and it will heal (slowly). I didn't know I'd injured mine at first either - but by the next day could barely walk. Try ice.

  35. There isn't much worse than back pain. My aching back feels for you...oh wait a minute....my back feels fine. My face feels for you...maybe I will post a picture of my face on my blog just to scare you - then maybe it will take your mind off your back pain for a second or two. I know this past weekend my face scared several little children so who knows what it might do to ladies in Arkansas. Come to think of it - my face did scare a Patty this weekend but it wasn't you unless of course you have been hanging out on the Washington Coast. Sorry, I know, for any of this to make sense you would have had to tumbled around inside my head...but heck, I get it.
    I hope you feel better.

  37. Hope you are much much better soon! You have listened and commiserated with me and my back for ages. Compression fractures are supposed to heal fairly quickly. This is the 8th nearly ninth month.

    Wishing you a quick healing.

  39. Some how I missed this post. I think that pain in the butt must be catching. I went to get up from my chair at the computer on Sat. and almost fell down. I had been bent over picking up stuff Abe had pulled out and putting it into trash bags. Didn't seem to bother me at that time, but after I came back in the house and set for a while, I almost fell down when I got up, I could hardly walk around the table sitting it, since one daughter and her partner were coming over to fix my kitchen faucet and drain, I thought I would buy pizza. Then another daughter called and said she would be stopping by, so we ended up with six of us having lunch. Anyway, just as quick as it came, after I set down again for about 15 mins, it seemed to go away. I thought at the time, if this keeps up, I'll be going into Urgent Care to get some kind of shot, because it was down right painful. It affected my right butt cheek and usually it's my left one that bothers me a lot. My hip almost felt like I might have fractured it and I thought oh no, I probably shouldn't have stopped the Actonel I had been taking. I seem to have a sore spot almost all the time this summer in the left butt cheek, feels like the bone is rubbing when I set down and get up and lord only knows there's enough fat covering it that the bone is not showing. LOL Hope you're feeling lots better by now.

  40. Patty,
Goodness, that almost sounds like nerve pain. Sure glad it is gone now. Do be careful. I've found padding just doesn't help:))
