POLTERGEIST OR COVID FATIGUE

Really had nothing for today when it happened. I was sitting there minding my own business on Sunday when a giant "klunk" got my attention.  My wall was suddenly bare and my quite heavy horse collar mirror that has been content to hang on my wall quietly for 16 years, came crashing down. Luckily, it landed on the cat bed so nothing broke. Luckily for Minnie the cat, she was not in the bed.

The screws into the leather that held the support wire just pulled free without any provocation. There was no jarring, no vibrations, no loud noises, just quiet, then "thunk".

This is not a picture of my mirror but a close enough image. Mine is a bit more fancy. While my camera worked to take pictures of the deed, I have somehow misplaced the cables to transfer the pictures to my computer.  Poltergeist again??  Beginning to wonder.  So I had to borrow an image from Google.

Have you ever had a mirror or picture that just one day decide enough was enough and just fell off your wall?  Do I blame prankster poltergeist  or are maybe even inanimate objects getting Covid fatigue also? Not sure.

Now I am tempted to check all my wall hangings but then maybe I will just wait for the crash.

Stay safe out there and don't stand too close to heavy objects hanging from your walls.

  1. Yikes! Now you've got me thinking about the large and very heavy, glass fronted picture that hangs on the wall beside my couch. I'll take it down and inspect the hangers today!

Oops, sure hope your picture is OK. Probably not a bad idea to check.

  2. Me? I'd wait for a crash. Lol

You don't need a cable to transfer your photos from the camera. Just take out the photo card from camera & insert it in your port on the computer. Once transferred, look for the file/folder to where they were downloaded.

Yep me too. No need looking for trouble. You know I have never done anything with my card so I will try that. Thanks.

  3. Well, yes, I have had things fall off the wall or off a shelf for no apparent reason other than "someone" was trying to get my attention.

  4. Just last week I had a large photo frame fall off a seven inch shelf where it had been sitting for several years. It's the second time in in tens that a frame has fallen off that shelf. The first time I heard afterward there was an baby earth quake in our area.

I, too, have a camera so old t doesn't have a photo card to transfer stuff. Hope you find your cable.

  5. An old heavy one fell. The fault was the old wires that held it. Apparently wore hangers don't last over 75 years. The mirror was toast, it was a nice one too, but it was from my ex-wife's family so only one of us was very upset.

Ha, good thing it wasn't from your side of the family. Mine was only 40 years old. Just a baby.

  6. That could’ve been a scary or harmful thing, but I like how you gave it a comical term with ‘covid-fatigue’! Anyway Patti—YES, something very similar happened to me back in 2014. I had a round, heavy leather framed mirror hanging (from a bolt) on one wall for 10-11 years. Below it was a small folding bookcase that I kept asking my sister if I should replace.

One night I’m in bed, hear a loud crash from the other room. I race in there, the mirror came straight down, unharmed but had absolutely splintered that folding bookcase. I told my sister that Mom made the decision for me.

Wow, now that was an omen. Good to know our Moms are still there spiritually anyway when we need them. Still trying to figure who threw mine off the wall.

  7. It happened to me just the other week. A large painting fell to the floor. It didn't break, but the noise was startling. David replaced the old small screw with a larger screw. It's fine now.

Goodness, the spirits must be about as bored as we are for them to make our wall hangings fail. Glad it didn't break.

  8. Since you are the only person I know who has a horse collar mirror, I am not surprised that you might have wandering spirits too. Or maybe that old horse just got tired.

Aww, I thought they were common, the collars not the spirits:) I have had it for 40 years and pretty sure that old horse is compost now.

  9. Yes, I've had things fall off the wall, but right this moment I can't remember what it was or where we were living. I do remember thinking, "Mmm...I wonder how that happened."

I know especially when there was just no reason for the sudden failure. I'm still wondering:)

  10. Yes, I've had things fall from the wall and also fly across the room. Mine were not covid fatigue. :-)
The photo came up on my reading list and it looked like a Men's sport "cup" hanging form a rope. :-) Oh dear I need new glasses.

Probably wouldn't hurt to have George check that clock's hanger.
You are right, we all need to keep hanging in and not letting our support fail:)

  12. Absolutely fantastic post because all sorts of weirdness is around us these days. Was the mirror a gift or just a thing you fancied and bought?
In 2003 my aging aunt had to move to a senior home just 3 days before SARS hit our city. Her apt ent was close by the residence so Buddy and I moved in. One morning months later the photo picture of her favorite long gone pet dog Dropped to the carpet below. I rushed to see what was wrong and nothing appeared so I rehung it. Moments later a call came from the residence that she had had another stroke. It was not too bad and she was able to get back to her walker and move about. In 2004 late fall the photo fell Adair. I checked and again no ration visual reason for it to fall. Now it gets weird. The phone rand. It was the residence. This time her stroke was more severe and her walker days were done. I figured the connection was too strong so on my visit I brought her fav photo picture to her and hung it where she could see it. Believe it or not it fell the last day of her life and we included the picture along with her for her burial.
Buddy and I still have moments when her spirit alerts us to her presence and we simulataneouly Mutter she her right now. She passed in August 2005 but we still sense her.
But this event has made me a bit uneasy as once hubbies photo fell face down just before his serious injury in 2013.
Now I worry if a dear photo falls or flips for no reason.
All can be just coincidence for many but for me it was significant. There is another dimension. , Some have the energy to tap in. I only sense it. Stay safe Patti and as I have trouble getting back plz email me your reply as I treasure hearibf from you.

    1. Heidrun,
I had actually bought the mirror over 40 years ago when I was a horse owner and really into riding.
My goodness that was quite eerie with you aunt. I really doubt if those events were just coincidence.
Amazing how it reacted to all her changes of health and eventually to her passing. I think it was wise to bury it with her.
      You and Buddy stay safe.

  13. Oh gosh, thank goodness Minnie wasn't taking a nap! We have a very large and heavy photo of a swan with its eyes closed and its head tucked into a wing hanging right over our bed. Now, I'm wondering if Bob should check that photo's stability, or if we should leave well enough alone? It's hung there for 25 years with no problem. I think Bob will roll his eyes if I ask him to check it. I'll just say Patti suggested it...

That picture sounds like it might do some damage if it decides to leave the wall. Do have Bob check it and of course, put it on me.

  15. Yes, that has happened here. I have a framed corkboard, supposed to be used for messages, but it got filled with snapshots of family and the cotton cord it was hanging from just wore out, the board slipped and landed on the edge of a shelf unit right below it, so I've just left it there.
I've also had a thermometer fall off a wall unexpectedly, it broke into several pieces, but the ball and tube containing the mercury stayed intact. I threw it out anyway.

Good thing Minnie was sleeping her bed.

  19. Glad you and your kitty were unharmed! When i lived in Little Rock back in 1997 i was deep asleep in my bed when something (a cat?) knocked a glass table over on my front porch breaking it. Talk about a loud noise - and waking me from a deep sleep. Yikes.

  21. This is my favorite memory concerning wall hangings. 32 years ago I visited my daughter & her very new husband. They were living in and care-taking a lovely museum-like house that was in honor of a local (but not well known)artist. They couldn't wait to show it to me and I noticed that so many of the paintings were askew as we wandered through the rooms. My daughter led the way, I was next and I would straighten each picture as I saw it ... not realizing that my new son-in-law was setting them back as they'd been. His explanation later was that it wasn't my concern to change them
...a not-so-subtle hint to keep my hands off their
    marriage !!

  22. If it was heavy, the holder probably just "gave out." But very good thing, nothing/no one was under it!!!!!!
